Preserving Indigenous Cultures

Academic Project
Project Overview

In collaboration with Professor Dmitriy Babichenko, this project is an open-source system for collecting, storing, connecting, and presenting Indigenous traditional knowledge in the form of stories, myths, testimonies, and interactive experiences from different cultures and languages.

Over the past six months, a cross-disciplinary team of undergraduate students from the Bachelor of Science in Information Sciences, Digital Narrative and Interactive Design, and Computer Science programs has been working with the Iaryna Andes and Amazon Field School in Ecuador to develop this system.

My Contributions
I along with a team of my peers am working to develop a set of web interfaces that allow historians, folklorists, anthropologists, and linguists to input new narratives. They will also be able to see connections between similar entities and themes in the form of interactive knowledge graphs.
